MISSION & HISTORY.
On a trip in December 2018, after removing a large oak tree from a garage, the homeowner’s neighbor asked how much we charged for tree work. We told him, “Nothing. We do it out of love.” He asked again, “Really, how much does it cost?” I replied, “It actually costs an insurmountable amount that no man could ever pay. But thankfully, that price was paid in full over 2,000 years ago by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
That moment reminded me that many people still don’t know about Jesus, and we should never assume they do. This realization opened my eyes: you’ll never know unless you ask. During these storms, you see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Yet, through it all, our Father in Heaven is faithful—He will never leave us or forsake us.
In 2019, three Christian Men came together to brainstorm ways to help others in tree removal and responding to natural emergencies. This led to over 100 trips to support families and communities as they look to emerge from natural disasters. Chainsaws For Christ was founded.
Through the years, we have witnessed firsthand the overwhelming destruction caused by natural disasters. From sitting on the tailgate of a truck, listening to an elderly man whose entire life’s belongings were removed from his flooded home and placed at the curb to standing in a woman’s kitchen after cutting up a tree that had split her house in half during a tornado, the impact of the devastation is real. I’ve cried upon learning of a daughter’s death at a home we had just boarded up after straight-line winds from a microburst shattered all the upstairs windows.
I’ve watched two neighbors embrace for the first time in over 20 years as we cleared fallen trees and debris from their yards after a hurricane. I’ve smiled hearing about a baby being born safely while her mother was stranded in a car during a major ice storm.
I pray that, through these trips, we not only address the physical destruction but also make the Lord’s presence known to the people we meet and those around them.
